The Shivanasamudram Falls is in Karnataka. Being very near to Bangalore , it enjoys one of the most visited weekend tourist destinations status.
The Cauvery river after meeting Kavini jumps to the plain from Deccan Plateau near the tiny island town of Shivasamudram in Mandya district. This is a segmented waterfall,i.e the river jumps from multiple locations creating two main falls GaganChukki and Barachukki. This is the 2nd largest falls of India.
The falls almost dry out in the summer season. Small storage of water among the rocks can be found on the way
Gaganchukki is the bigger one between them. In the dry season also, the vastness and silence of the place can have a visitor mesmerized.
Though it is not advisable one can enjoy trekking down along the falls in dry season
One can reach the other part of the falls by travelling 1 k.m.
Asia’s first hydroelectricity plan was created here using the force of the massive flow.
